THE WHAT
THE WHAT
I designed and developed a brand-new website for Summerhill Racquet Club, a community-focused tennis club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The club needed a clean, functional site to welcome new members, showcase its programs, and share updates with the local tennis community. I built a fully responsive WordPress site from scratch using the Divi theme, tailored specifically to the club’s identity and member needs.
THE WHY
THE WHY
The original site was outdated, difficult to update, and poorly optimized for mobile devices. There was no clear brand presence, and critical information like court scheduling, programming, and contact details were hard to find. The club wanted a website that felt friendly and professional while being easy for staff to maintain — with better visibility for events, coaches, and seasonal programming.
THE HOW
THE HOW
I started by identifying the club’s core needs through direct communication with staff and members. From there:
- Design: Created a clean, minimalist layout using Divi, with updated typography and colors inspired by the club’s physical signage and natural surroundings.
- Content Strategy: Restructured the site to highlight the most requested info: membership details, programs, coach bios, and a simple contact form.
- Development: Built the site on WordPress with custom styling and interactive modules, including mobile-optimized layouts, responsive menus, and clear CTAs.
- Copywriting: Wrote all site copy in a friendly, conversational tone that reflects the club’s personality and community-first attitude.
- Optimization: Ensured fast load times, basic SEO best practices, and an intuitive user experience across devices.

Key outcomes of the redesign included improved mobile usability, increased tour requests, and greater visibility for programs like Junior Development, Private Coaching, and Adult Leagues.
The clean, responsive WordPress platform supports Summerhill’s growing service offerings and provides staff with the flexibility to update content easily and regularly.
This project gave me the opportunity to thoughtfully reimagine a well-loved local brand through a user-centered lens. By focusing on clear design, intuitive structure, and approachable language, I helped create a site that better serves both new visitors and longtime members. It was rewarding to see how small design decisions could make a big impact, and to help Summerhill’s online presence better reflect the warmth and quality of its community.
